1000cc Honda Motor in 1990 Marathon
I am using a Honda 1000cc motor, and a 1990 marathon EZ go. I am going to use the rear axle from a 1983 Mazda RX-7 GSL. I chose this axle because it it has disk brakes, a limited slip differential, a gear ratio of 3.98:1, is narrow enough for the cart, and is very light weight.
I am also using the drive shaft from the RX-7. I am having the drive shaft shortened and the slip yoke swapped with one that will fit the output shaft of the bike motor. This means mounting the motor with the output shaft facing the back instead of to the side, which may prove a little tricky. I have made sure the directions of rotation are the same on the motor and axle. |

Paved roads mostly, maybe a little light off roading (well maintained dirt roads). I do have plans to upgrade the front suspension with raptor or banshee parts, but that's another project.

Between the temperature being 101 before noon, and having no extra set of hands, progress is a little slow. I have the schedule 40 and channel to extend the swing arm and make motor mounts, and have cut the tabs and mounts off the swing arm/frame to make room for the motor. (I really like plasma cutters, as it turns out) I have lowered the motor into place and lined up the axle, so I have taken measurements so I can get the drive shaft shortened.

I just thought I would post a picture of my 1988 190E rolling "work stool"... I really like it a lot. I have a computer chair that matches, though is in much better condition and on a nice swiveling and tilting wood base.( Im going to hook a battery and switches to it so I can adjust the seat with the motors)
