Clubcar with 2007 YZF R-6 Coming soon!
A friend of mine crashed a 2007 R-6 a few years ago. It had less than 2000 miles on it. I kept it in my garage for a little over a year when he decided that he wasn't going to fix it. So I inherited it. I dabbled in a few ideas: A Go- cart, No because the things are just uncontrolable. A quad, no because I did that 4 years ago. I was driving by our recycling center and an older Clubcar was sitting out there. It is in decent shape and the more I looked at the rear frame design the more I thought GOLF CART!!! I got it for free so here I am. Just drug it home tonight and have already had my first hick-up. I assumed that the thing was an EZ go and had already decided to copy somebodies design off of here. Well the axle is way different so I am back to square one.
Questions: -Can I use the axle that is in it already? -Go with stock axle, a Live axle, or a Quad axle? -Is it easy enough to adapt a quad front and rear suspension to this? Dune buggy style. -Anybody have skills to bypass half of the wiring harness on this R-6? -Any advice? Not sure of the year of the cart yet but the frame is aluminum and it seems very light. |

On the harness, use it as is, or contact Hyperracing.com. They sell a cut down harness for micro sprints. Or if you are feeling gamey, fins a service manual online for free and hack away yourself. I did this on our first micro sprint, and it worked. But I have bought modified harnesses ever since, not too fun...
As for the axle, figure out how crucial reverse is. Then decide to stick with stock or go live... |

Problem with the stock axle is that the drive side is on the wrong side for the bike engine to mount up. And is it going to be a 20 mile an hour wonder in 6th gear? Having reverse would be nice too.

juanhunglo69... check out my build... 'college education' that has a mojave 250 front suspension in a club car and then also the thread i have on the coilover rear suspension put 400ex front shocks in the rear of my cart. and that rear axel has a lower more torquey reverse.. i believe but dont quote me on this.. i believe its a 12:1 and a 16:1 ratio. and you could prolly flip the axel to put the rear imput shaft inline with the output of the r6...
and as for the harness it wont be that hard to eliminate things... but maybe you should keep all the lights and stuff and extend the lines to the lights on the cart... thats what i would do... |

You can take a look at mine, I didn't care about reverse but it SURE runs good forward. Mini Sprint car rear axle.

Well, I started tearing the cart down this weekend. I got it all stripped ready to pull the stock engine out. While I had it tore down I was looking the cart over. I want to use the stock axle. I can do it a few ways, I can flip it around and just go chain straight to the input shaft or build a jackshaft. Either way I think that the gear selector will have to be in Reverse to go foward. Will this be stable to do with this rearend or shall I go ahead and go with something else. How bullet proof is the rear end?

A couple other guys in here use the Golf cart rear axle, you have to get the smallest sprocket you can find to get the gear ratio right. Look at the other bike engine builds, nobody cares if you use their ideas that's why we post pics. As the harness goes I used the whole bike harness, extended the instrument and handle bar section to mount on the dash of my cart. I also used the lights, and turn signals from the bike.

SB450,lol, I am VERY partial to Yamahas but I just had the Brain poot that an EZGO body would be more noticable or associated as a Golf Cart. I like all the brands and have every one of them except for a Club Car,,, oH no Zoner/Star either.
