I been workin on this for a little over a week made alot of progress, Its a 1995 ez-go (I think) with a 2004 suzuki 400 motor. The frame was cracked so I basically cut the frame at the neck and grafted the rear and front of the atv in the cart. The rear axel sits a little further than I wanted but as easy as it has been goin I cant really complain. I am at a stand still now trying to figure out the steering.

Sweet... I was wondering when someone would post something like this on here. There may be another one on here that I don't know about, but I like the way this is going. There is a guy local to me that has done this using a 90's ezgo and a honda 400ex. Maybe you could use the rear half of the body off of a ezgo workhorse. I think they are a bit longer. If your ezgo body is metal then it wouldn't be that hard to add a few inches to the rear body. I say it would be that hard, but I not the one doing the work! Nice job so far.

Thanks, I thought about extending it in the rear but the more I look at it the more it grows on me (I think it kinda looks like a dune buggy) I plan running a 24 or 25" tires so Ill wait until I get those on there and see how it looks. Im just trying to piece the steering together now I guess I am gonna have to swap it to a rack and pinion but just not sure how to just yet.

I'm sure you can find one from a go-kart site....or try to find out from someone who has a Stretch Plastics long travel kit and ask them the part number. I'm sure you won't have to look to far on this site to get some ideas.
Just to through it out there, I wonder if you could fab/weld/bolt the steering box in place of where the ATV steering stem was and fab a sector shaft to connect the two. You would have to make supports for the cart steering column since it's divorced from the gear box.....blah, blah, blah. I could go on but my fingers don't agree.

I was/am still thinking about building a long travel ifs for one of my carts, look at appletreeauto.com. They have racks that are as small at 8.5". To get the proper rack measure the distance between upper a arms and lower a arms, you will want a rack approx between these measurements to prevent binding during suspension cycle.

I actually was reading over some post last night and found one "any ideas for marathon long arm" and wicked carts, explained how to extend the stock steering shaft, and drill a whole in the back of the cast housing and use the 8.5 rack and pinion thats prob the route I am gonna go, I have an old jeep steering shaft I had layin around to extend the carts shaft Ill take pics

Not sure of the weight if I had to guess the steel sub frame and the cart add about 150 pounds on over the quads weight. I will get more pics and vids when its ready hopefully have it drivable by the first of next week

Appletree has a good selection of parts. They are my #1 stop for my sandrail parts. Be careful and make sure the pass or travel on the rack is smaller than normal. Then you won't need to extend your tie rod spindle mounts and hit your frame or body. Hope this helps!
