Project "HONGO"begins
This wont be as outrageous as some of the others on here ,but it'll be fun. I have a 1998 ezgo that was a basket case. I brought it home and promptly disassembled it. The main parts are in good condition, but the front frame seemed like it wasn't built very strong so I boxed the front frame and welded the seams completely to strengthen it .I bought a cbr600 f4 motor harness and display . And I pick up a rear end out of a 4 stroke cart this week end. Once I install the rear end Ill start lining up the motor . then the fun begins

That's the way I like to see builds go, take them down to bare frame, cleanup and repair them, then build. Your going to have a cool cart, take your time.

Re: Project "HONGO"begins
I got a little more done last night ,I made a flip kit for the front axle.I removed all the brackets and made new mounting pads on top and behind the axle to give a little lift and a little length . I'm going to make brackets Tonight to mount 2 yfz 450 ATV coil overs on the top of the axle. These are pretty nice shocks they have both rebound and compression adjustment.. Next I want to put heavy duty rear spring and an axle flip kit. Where is a cheap place top buy the axle flip kit? How much do the heavy duty springs raise the rear?

Re: Project "HONGO"begins
Ya i could but I thought if i could find one cheap it would save time and be reversible later not to mention what i would have in materials. i was going to just buy universal leaf spring perches ,they are cheap but all i found were made for 3 inch tube .they could be adapted but again more work i figured i could find a flip kit for under 50 but i cant find anyone selling them separate from the whole lift kit

Re: Project "HONGO"begins
I am not sure if you can get the flip by it's self but if you have the talent to do the other stuff you have been doing I know you can do this. i see you looked at the axle perches. I know they are too big but you could go to the local metal shop and pick up some sqare or rectangular tube and then cut the axle tube diameter into it, drill the hole for the spring center pin then weld to the axle. should be stronger than what you would by in a kit with the right wall thickness. plus you could get a little more lift out of it if you buy taller tubing say a 2x4 or 2x6. just a thought.

Re: Project "HONGO"begins
Ya I was going to just weld on some perches but im thing eventuall i will replace that rearend with something stronger and if i didnt mess with it i could sell it. I know from looking around they are not easy to find and fairly valuable!
