Re: Body work is done!
YEAH ITs ALL ALUMINUM!! and will last a lifetime for sure. When I look at it, its hard to believe that I built this in my shop, without any plans, prints or guide. I basically built an entire vehicle from the ground up starting with 2 frame rails. I have people stopping by to see it and are amazed with the craftsmanship and accuracy to detail.
It has 4 wheel disc brakes, front and rear dry storage, real working and removable doors and will have removable windshields too, all can be put on for winter driving. It will have working headlights, tail lights and signals. Inside there will be a heater for the winter and a complete stereo and amp system with sub. ONLY regrets so far? I went the width of a golf cart, BUT, it is just a lil narrow because of a cab. Golf carts are open type seating/riding where your shoulders do not have to be totally inside of a cab. 8 inches wider would have allowed adequate shoulder room for 2 people. As it is, it is kind of cramped with 2 people. The other regret, 4WD, wish I had gone the route of a polaris 800cc with the tranny and diffs for a 4WD jeep cart. AND, its to late because the body design will NOT allow room for it all. Upgrade down the road? BUSA, 1000 cc :) Are there any shows I can enter this thing in after its all completed? For the record, I am no engineer, nor machinist, and NOT a welder either, my career is law enforcement. BUT I grew up on a farm, learned mechanic work and welding an early age along side a family of welders and fitters. Its a trade you never lose and is like riding a bike, you never forget it. I seem to have impressed even those who weld/fit for a living. :) |

Re: Body work is done!
OHHH... and one more thing, I must give thanks for all the help from this board when i first started, NOT being sure on the swing arm design to use.
People like ScottyB, Richie, Rifter, Ron, Rib, Newguy, Smallblock, Secky, and others gave me valuable insight to fab up my suspension. It is amazing how these people will take time to help when you ask. Thanks guys! |
