Ebay is a great place for shocks.

I paid $150 for a set of Teryx shocks. They were brand new "take-offs."

@bumblebee - I ended up finding a couple pairs of coil overs from vw bugs that look like they should do the trick for now. As for the front being wider than the back, we are trying to go with a pre runner set up. We have a lot of open fields and ranches around our house and didn't plan on racing it or taking it on the roads.

Thank you for the ideas gentleman, but the prices were a bit out of the budget. Long story short; my brother and I have been laid off for the past two months and have been using our savings to do this project with the idea that when we start working again next month we would slowly swapping things out with their more expensive counterparts. The concept was to go as cheap as we can and try to keep it under $1500 for the build, see what we like and don't like and then change parts out as we go. I think to date were still well under $1000 and almost have everything.

I'll try to get new pictures up tomorrow, but we've knocked out quite a bit in the past couple days. The VW coil overs worked perfect. A pair on each A arm worked perfect and a pair on the rear swing arm coupled with a coil spring has the suspension complete. All of the bugs have been worked out with the A arms and they are now adjusted to allow a smooth full range of motion. We are currently designing a swingset steering system that should be finished by the end of next week, hopefully.

It took me three days to go through the wiring diagrams on the CBR but I was able to separate the wire loom and route the wires where they need to go and mount all of the electronics in a place that they will stay dry and out of harms way. The ignition cables were lengthened as well as the cables for the speedometer, tach, and temp.

We have a few parts coming in over the next week so the plan is to have the motor running by next week and then finish the linkage for the shifter, cabling for the throttle and axle mounts for the rotors and sprocket.

We're still under budget but I'm thinking were still a few months out from completion.
