mini sprint axle
I finally gave up on using a atv rear axle, not strong enough or wide enough. Im ready to drop the cash on a mini sprint axle. Before I go buying one I would like your input on what to buy as far as an axle and all the accessories. Thanks!

Re: mini sprint axle
The older mini-Sprints used to run 1-1/4" and 1-1/2" Straight Axles with 1/4" keyways and 4"x4 hubs, same as golf-carts.Now they run alot of Spline-drive hubs like a sprint-car.We ran Mini-Sprints in the late 80s' and they used a lot of go-kart based stuff like the axles.Places like Speedway Motors have a bunch of stuff for Mini-Sprints.Hope this helps.

Re: mini sprint axle
I ruin the 1 3/8 4130 Chromoly axle with keyed attachments, hubs are keyed and have pinch bolts, I've never destroyed any hubs or sprocket/disc flanges but I did bend a couple axles from torque thrust before I mounted more support bearings. Pachanga is right about Speedway, there's also Bicknel racing? and lots of EBay sellers that have parts you will need.

Still a little confused on these axles. Lets use this axle as an example. Are they splined the full length and the "spacers" just cover up the splines? Because where they show the sprocket hub obviously wouldn't work for a bike motor. And I'm going to want to use atv tires, what am I going to need to do to be able to run those? |

Re: mini sprint axle
You don't need that axle, I'll try to find some on eBay for you. What you need is an older setup with keyed attachments. You need the hubs, sprocket mount, and disc mount, you will use pillow block bearings- 3 or 4 depending how you do your setup, and then spacers. Spacers got between each of the axle attachments to make sure they stay in that position. I have 1-3/8, 4130 chromoly solid axle shafts, I bought my first one and made 2 more, you can have these made at a machine shop, they buy 1 - 3/8 stock and mill the keyway in at the points you need, if you find Mini Sprint axle parts on some site that's affordable buy them for 1 - 3/8, or 1 - 1/4 axles diameter shafts and have the axle shaft made at a local machine shop and save a ton of money
