Default Diamond Plate

I was wondering if you could paint aluminum diamond plate. Is there any prep work that needs to be done?

You should be able to use a scotch brite pad to scuff the diamond plate. After that, prime and paint in several thin coats. Be patient and don't try to put a heavy coat on, that will get you runs.

Bingo, red scotchbrite then wax and grease remover then an etch primer. After the etch primer let it dry according to the dry times for whatever product you are using, make sure you don't let it sit to long before top coating otherwise you will have to scuff it again before you top coat "and scuffing diamond plate is not much fun".

So I just called my auto body supply house and they informed me they do carry it in rattle cans. The brands they had were SEM and Nason but I am assuming that other companies make it also. The ingredient you are looking for in the self etching primer is zinc chromate. Also wear a mask if you are going to spray allot of it because some of them can be kind of harsh. Actually you should always wear a mask when spraying but sometimes we forget.
