Default Fusion paint glovebox

I painted my tan colored glove boxes and center dash of 83 club car black with fusion paint. Looked great when it was done. during install with rivets, the gun slipped and scratched paint. It seems like any rub or mar makes paint scratch. doesn't seem very durable. Did not use adhesion promoter first. All the other posts said how well fusion worked. I'm not impressed. If I start over, what is the best way to remove old fusion? If adhesion promoter is used, can I use any other paint besides fusion? If it had been black over black it would not show as much as the tan does. Which way should I turn or just cover the whole thing with a dash cover? Easier but not cheaper.

Info on Fusion can says that it takes 7 days of curing to become chip resistant.

I also don't yet know how durable this stuff is gonna be.
But if it scratches easily after curing ... my top is gonna wind up looking like s**t after a while.
Painted the whole thing with Fusion & I spend quite a bit of time off road in the woods!

My paint was well cured. It may be the type of plastic it is. I've heard good results on other parts like roof and body.

Trying to remove paint is never any fun so personally I would just go with the cover but that's just me. Remember if you are going to repaint the new paint is only as good as what is under it so if you feel it did not adhere properly the old stuff must be removed. Let us know what you decide and we can walk you through it.

I did my roof in Fusion paint almost a year ago and I bang the hell outta it on branches and limbs from trees all the time in the woods and haven't got a scratch yet. Prolly just spoke too soon and screwed myself.

i painted my g9 body in fusion red and loved the colour but the paint is flexable and so not very durable as i've found. looks good if you wax it though

Just a small tip here, if you are going to apply wax let the paint completely dry for at least a month. The wax tends to seal in all the gasses "for lack of a more technical term" that is trying to evaporate during the drying process.

I tried to cover fusion with adhesion promotor on the center panel with a top coat of duplicolor bumper paint. Got a reaction with adhesion and fusion. Stripped it down with a citrius based stripper . Did not hurt plastic. Cleaned it all off and recoated with adhesion topped with bumper paint. worked better. Still a few spots on sides that did not cover well. Don't know if something was on before that may have had silicone or something in it. Did bagwell and access cover they came out great. Could it be different plastics?
