go to your local auto parts store and tell them you want a rubber wheel for pin stripe removal. You put it in a drill/screw gun and it rubs it right off. easy as can be

Looked at my local auto store. No surprise, but they didn't know what I was talking about.

I took the pressure washer and just sprayed them off once you get them started they come right off with the pressure and didn't leave any of the glue residue behind.

A heat gun works good on them.

The main ingredient in wd40 is fish oil .... not very good as a solvent. Use lacquer thinner or a product like 'goof off'

WD40 doesn't destroy plastic and works extremely well on removing all adhesive from metal as well as plastic. It's used at many dealerships on used cars when needed to remove dealer stickers on trunks, etc. without scraping or hurting the paint, like those large AAA stickers for example. It also will remove stickers from plastic parts such as pipes, couplings, etc. which we use, (my other company,) by simply letting these parts sit in WD40, (we buy in gallon containers and let the parts sit overnight.) The stickers float off and leave NO adhesive on the part. We do use lacquer thinner or Prep-sol as well when we are going to apply stickers on metal since WD40 will leave a film on the metal. So lacquer thinner on metal or when about to apply a stripe or sticker or to remove from metal.

Read the can as well for many other uses...Removes Grease, Grime, Tar, Adhesives, Gum, Tape, Crayon, Scuff Marks, all of which can be a problem to remove normally without hurting the surface of that item.

If you don't have a heat gun like mentioned above, a hair dryer can get the stripe to loosen a bit as well inorder to begin the peeling process.

Here is it's content, based on a Google search and shown under Wikipedia:

WD-40's formula is a trade secret. The product is not patented in order to avoid completely disclosing its ingredients.[2] WD-40's main ingredients, according to U.S. Material Safety Data Sheet information, are:

i run a body shop...have been doing it for 15 yrs. find the rubber wheel so you dont run into problems later with paint or somthing else. Also dealerships DONT used wd-40 on cars stickers (at least if they know anything they dont) because if they would then that part of the car then would have to be degreased and rubbed down with a glaze or wax to get it to look like the rest of the car. also the wd-40 soaks into paint and is a MAJOR problem if you have to ever paint there again.

Here is a picture of the pinstripe removal wheel.....most places should have them.

I hear you Chuddly when you say there may be issues if an area needs to be repainted if something like a solvent is left on the paint, sometimes having to take it down to bare metal and start over. We've had issues with detailer's using the wrong rags on vehicles with tire dressing and worse or wiping down a vehicle with a rag previously used with a solvent and destroying the paint and plastic lenses. But one of the un-expected expenses caused by detailer's can be having to repaint a trunk or bumper on a used vehicle because care wasn't taken to remove a sticker and the paint was badly scratched or damaged. Usually after the sticker is removed that area is wiped down with a quick swipe of prep-sol to remove any film left by WD-40. So what "might" cause a problem down the road if a vehicle ever needed to be re-painted in that certain area is avoided by using it on that troublesome sticker. As I stated in my first post, we prefer to use other solvents on metal or a quality painted surface if the sticker can be removed first and the only thing left is the adhesive. I believe most golf carts are not painted, just molded plastic.

Another question, how does the rubber wheel do on plastic surfaces... does it leave any marks by the friction generated or just some that can be wiped away clean?
