Re: paints steps
I would think that 320 and a couple coats of sealer should be sufficient.
If you're planning on reassembly in a few days, I would not worry about a flex agent. I've never used Duplicolor. I can't comment on quality, or ease of application. Is it a true candy? Base being gold, or silver. Multiple coats of candy. Or is just called candy apple red? There is a HUGE difference. If it's truly a candy, and you aren't experienced, you should probably look for a different color. |

Nitro
So what grit to sand you're cart with depends on wether you are doing any bodywork and filling or not. If there is no bodywork to be done the easiset way to scuff it is to use red Scotchbrite, all you are doing here is removing the shine. You do need to find out if the cart is plastic or fiberglass because if it is plastic you will need to spray adhesion promoter on it before applying the paint. The duplicolor brand works just fine, am I right in assuming that you are using cans of spray paint? |

Re: paints steps
Yep I think you are correct spridle, after reading his other post it looks like he is using a spray gun.
Nitro Really any type of base/clear systems are usually pretty good as long as you follow the directions. I mean I have shot some that are different than others but Duplicolor is a pretty good brand name so I am sure it is fine. |

Re: paints steps
Yes the clear will make it shiny. For the wet sanding 2000 grit is what I use for easier buffing. Some guys use 1500 grit if they have alott of debris to sand out but it takes longer to buff. Remember on the wet sanding to not sand anywhere you cannot safely get you're buffer into like corners and such.

Re: paints steps
That's funny, mine will be blue after I'm done adding things. Got a light kit on the way, put in a stereo, and of course wheels n tires were first.
Leaning towards the Corvette GS blue right now. Theres a Honda color stuck in my head though code B66P. Blue, tons of pearl, I think it would look great on a cart. Then theres .................... |
