Re: two tone grafics!!
From the sounds of it you have your main coat on and dry. You will need to lightly scuff it with a GREY scrotchbrite pad in circular motions. After that You will not need to do any sanding if you are spraying the multiply colors in the same day. Make sure to observe your flash times before masking/taping your fresh paint. If you let them dry for any more than 8 hrs you should scuff them lightly with a grey scotch brite pad. Note - If you wait and scuff be carfully, Silver/Mettalic will fall into the sand scratches and show the scratches and look funny.
ACRYLIC URETHANE clear, what brand you use is basicly personal prefrence. I use PPG product's, and on a golf cart I would use the OMNI line of PPG. Its a lower cost product but is still very good. Specifically I would use OMNI MC 260 Quick Clear with MH 168 or Mh 167 depending on the temp. I believe shopline is a PPG product line so your paint store should get you the correct clear in that line. Last edited by pifd; 09-08-2011 at 08:54 AM.. Reason: More info |

Re: two tone grafics!!
PFID pretty much nailed it. the only thing I would offer, is if you are worried about edge lines, and blending or bleeding of colors I would look in to interstage clear. you can apply it after each coat of color, that way if you have a bleed thru you can sand off the bleed with our effecting the color beneath. it will also help bury those edge lines from masking with our having too many top coats of clear.
Just a thought. Arin |
