Anyone used spray paint with success?

I have a 99 cc fixer upper and it needs to be painted. I plan to sand it down and have considered using spray paint to save on cost. I plan to use the krylon fusion paint that is designed to adhere to plastics and hope that multiple light coats will produce decent results. Any advise?

it looks good in your avitar. Im having the guy remove the white long top off of mine and installing a new black standard length top as a even trade. Im planning on painting the plastic body. Not sure what color yet but its a hunting buggy so im thinking either matte black or olive green.

I like to be thorough so i havent decided if i am going to remove the body or leave it on and tape up everything. The plastic spray paint should be decent. I repainted the black center of a grille on a truck i used to own and it held up well and looked natural. I just sanded it and applied multiple light coats.

I've used the plastic-paints,The Valspar was pretty thick,while Rust-Oleum was watery.For metal try the Rust-Oleum Professional line(Home Depot,Lowes,etc..).They are oversized cans for under $6.Use the Red-Oxide Primer first.This stuff covers great and looks professionally done with very little effort.You don't even have to sand the primer to get a smooth top-coat.Another good one I've found is Rust-Oleum Painters-Touch 2x.It looks really nice and covers fast,dries quik and even.I do a lot of fabrication-work and everything I build gets these products on them.It holds up for a long-time and is very durable.Hope this helps.

Regardless of the brand of plastic paint. Two things to consider.

1. Preparation and taking your time will reward you with a nice finish.
2. If you use anything other than Satin or flat, the overlaping will be noticeable.

You can always buy a gallon of laquer thinner and wipe off all the paint and start over. I spent 3 days on my top. Put it on saw horses and coated it lightly over and over for day and half on each side. i prefer Krylon Fusion. Im sure they are all good.

thanks alot guys. i agree with taking the time to prep. I think i will remove all plastic and do a good sanding job. i would have just began with the paint but i may take the advise to use a primer. i think i can really make this cart look great with patience and i know the time spent will be worth it when im done with it.
