Default Help! Painting my cart

I need to upload some pics and start a build thread, but I have some questions that I need help with before the weekend. I have an '09 gas Drive that just came off of a course in South Carolina and it was fairly rough to be so new. I have it torn down to the frame to address surface rust, clean it up, fluids, new clutch/filter/jet from Don at Plowmans, etc., etc. I want to shoot the body and roof while it is torn down and I think I need to do the following:

- decals are all off and adhesive has been removed with laquer thinner

- body all cleaned up, wiped down with mineral spirits (this is where I am now)

- scuff the body by hand with sandpaper, 220 or so??

- I need to fill a few nicks in the plastic body. Fiberglass body filler?? What should I use?

- shoot body and roof (or just the roof??) with rattle can adhesion promotor

- shoot both with primer

- Base coat, several coats til I'm happy

- Clear coat, 2-3 coats?

- buff

What am I missing? What am I about to do wrong?

Build thread and pics to follow I promise!

Hey guys, just found the Paint & Body sub category elsewhere. Let me do some research before anyone takes the time to answer my questions that have probably been answered a 1,000 times already. Sorry, I always come right to the Gas Yamaha section because that's where all the cool kids hang out.
