Default painted top

I have painted the top on my cc with Dupli-color textured metallic coating. I did all the prep and it came out nice. Should or would it be worth putting a clear or seal on top? The color I used is graphite and has a semi gloss. Thanks for any help.

So a clearcoat is used to basically protect the color from scratches. If you think you might scratch you're top then you probably should clear it. Personally if you already have it off you might as well.

Sorry forgot one thing. If you do clear it it will be shiny instead of semi gloss. If you like the semi gloss look then make sure you get semi gloss or satin clear.

Thanks Master, I still have it hanging in my shop so looks like i will clear it. How many coats and being it's textured what needs to be before clear and inbetween coats or just spray.
I'am having the seat recovered and should be ready in a couple of weeks. I thought of painting the body but its in good shape with a few scratches but has a good shine. I'd be overprotective if I painted it.

Usually three coats is normal. Start with one fog coat and let it completely dry, after that apply two more wet coats and you should be good.
