whether it be a custom airbrush job or some rattle can... PREP is the key... otherwise you might as well get ready to sand it down and start over.... cheap route is clean/degrease plastics... scuff with a red scotebrite and a pumice cleaner... comet cleaner will work.... clean/degrease again... we sandblast the parts with aluminum oxide also.... then an adhesion promoter is a must... we use a flexible primer... and PPG paints/clears which have a flex additive already in them.. most automotive paints now have some flex already.
we've had numerous projects were we have had to go back and redo someone else's work... it sucks to have to spend more money to fix something that wasn't done correct the first time... basically goes back to "you get what you pay for" you can take the time to do it right... might cost a little more.. but it'll last longer and look better. |

you need to wet sand before primer & then wet sand the primer before paint. sanding gives the primer & paint something to grab on to.
