Default Duplicolor Acrylic Lacquer Metallic

Anyone here have any experience using one of these kits;

http://www.tcpglobal.com/RestorationShop/rspaclac.aspx

Basically it is a metallic acrylic lacquer. Are the steps basically the same as using base/clear other than leaving out the clear? In you guys' experience; how well will this hold up? I'm wanting to paint a 1992 club car ds that is used almost exclusively at the course and kept in a shed when not in use.

Any help is appreciated.

Regards,
Dustin

The acrylic lacquer is more of an old school paint system and does not resist scratches as well as something with clear coat on it such as the base clear system. Now it does dry fairly hard but is not much fun to wet sand and buff if you have any imperfections.It sprays somewhat the same but takes more time to fix if you have any issues. My advise it to go with a budget base clear system such as Nasson or Omni.

Thanks, I appreciate the advise. I'll probably go with the basecoat/clearcoat the same site offers. I had read in a few places that the lacquer was much easier to apply and more forgiving. I also heard that it was much easier to get a glossy finish. I figured it was too good to be true especially since it was about half the price.

This will be my first paint job; so was looking for something that was easy and forgiving, but would still give a good result and teach me something at the same time.
