Question Primer is cracking - do I have to start over?

I am re-painting an EZ-Go TXT using a metallic gold and clear coat. I used Bulldog Adhesion promoter, but when I shot the primer I got cracking in certain spots - around fender wells, etc. I am using Dupont Acrylic paints (A4240S primer) which my local automotive supply put into rattle cans for me. Temperature was around 64 degrees and humidity was fairy low (for Arkansas). I need help with 2 questions: 1. Any thoughts as to why this happened? - I cleaned thoroughly with wax and grease remover (several times while I worked on the body), washed the body one more time and made sure it was completely dry.

2. Can I just sand out the cracking areas? - if that takes me all the way down to the bare body in spots, will I need to use adhesive promoter again or will that mess up the remaining primer? - I am hoping I dont have to sand the entire body parts all the way down and start over.

You may have shot the adhesion promoter on too thick and it shrunk when it dried. Sand off all affected areas, making sure to remove all sanding dust and reapply promoter in thin coats.

Thanks for the help - I am glad to hear that I don't have to sand the entire body again. I will make sure to apply a very thin coat this time.
