I suck at painting
Ive tried a couple attempts to paint my Kart. I realize now that im terrible at painting.
How big of a PITA is it to take all the plastics off and get them painted? vs just bringing in the whole Kart? Also what is a paint job going to run? Or new plastics in Red are what $500? I have a 97 marathon btw. |

Why are you having so much difficulty ? Are you looking for a pristine cart. Don't know where you live but round here we have Macco and they told me they would spray a prepped cart for 200 bucks in pieces...

Re: I suck at painting
Found replacement plastics for $495 for new ones with lights seems like a **** good deal.
im going to start pulling the body and see what the over all condition is in and what the body shops quote me. |

I'm not sure powder coating is the way to go with thin metal body panels.

Re: I suck at painting
You have a Marathon or a Metalist, don't know your exact year, both are pretty to take apart for painting.

I think this is the way to go, as others have mentioned. If I was smart, I'd physically to the body pieces with me in person when looking for pricing/quotes. Psychologically-speaking, they deal with cars/trucks all day, every day. When you bring in a small, little front cowl and the rear body, I think it looks like a cake walk to them versus bringing in the entire cart...... I chose to paint the roof myself.....that's up to you, of course. You can check out a few photos of my body shop paint job photos from Friday on my profile, if it would be helpful. (Still have wheels and accessories to add to mine, but the paint job should speak for itself. I'm thrilled with it.) |
