Where to buy paint?
I'm in the process of a cart rebuild that you can see the progress of in this thread.
http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/membe...ke-gasser.html My question is where should I go to get a custom paint color for painting my cart? I have the pantone number that I'm looking for any chance that works for getting a paint color? Also my wife has mentioned she'd like for it to have a pearl effect after the new paint. Is this difficult to do? This will be my first attempt at painting but I'm not crazy worried about it being absolutely perfect. The goal is to paint it Oklahoma State Orange w/ a pearl finish. Thanks for the feedback. |

Re: Where to buy paint?
So to get a custom paint color and a pearl additive you will need to find a paint supply house. I know some NAPA stores carry paint if you have one of those close to you. You can also check other auto parts stores in your area as they might carry paint also.
As far as applying the pearl goes it is just mixed in with your clear so shooting it is no different than spraying clear. |

Re: Where to buy paint?
Thanks for the info!
Can you give me a ball park on how much I'd be looking at spending? I'm flipping back and forth between paint or a wrap. I've also found this on ebay and it mentions single stage. Would I still need to apply clear to get the mirror finish? And would that even work for painting the cart? http://goo.gl/9aMShH |

Re: Where to buy paint?
So is you want the pearl effect it has to go in the clear coat. With that said you might as well go with the base/clear system seeing as you would have to clear over the single stage anyway. Depending on the brand of base/clear you use it would be anywhere from $ 150 to $350 ball park. Quick question though. What color is the cart now?

It's currently white. You can see pictures of it if you follow the link in my signature. I had no idea the paint was that expensive.
Now I'm back to thinking a rattle can job might be the best idea. I'd hate to drop that cash and then scuff up the paint running down the trails at the lake. |

Re: Where to buy paint?
If you want some durability there are many options guys have tried. Line-x, Herculiner, plasti-dip, wraps, etc. If this is a trail crt then I probably wouldn't do paint if you are worried about scratches. Just my personal opinion.
