The price was higher until lately. Its showing me $700, and that is a lot more than $300. Given its much cheaper than a vanny now but still not that cheap. Though if you could use the discount coupon on them, that is getting pretty attractive $/HP-wise. Around $600 I would certainly look at it for my next cart because with just a rev kit it should work quite well and getting close to double the HP of a single clone. Around here carts have gone so high, for a cart/lift/wheels/tires/clone swap I can about buy a used utv with 4wd and cage and all that (and ride it on day one, no work to it). Its not worth building a cart to trail ride, that is why I don't have another cart to build so far. Carts used to be cheap that is why everyone started building them. But you never know when a deal might pop.

Anyway, I'd expect you will see builds with the clone twin now that the price is in a better area.

Just saying I have about 600 into my clone swap with a $264 420cc clone. With a $700 twin I would have over $1,000. That is a lot of money for most people into carts. I have ported/cut head you may not need with a twin so you can cut $100, however a twin exhaust to be made is likely going to be more than the $60 I spent for a custom pipe with a swing joint in it. I used a junkyard car airbox for $10 and spent more on hoses and pvc to complete it. The rest was rockers/springs/key/etc parts for engine mostly, $30 on a car muffler, plus hangars, etc. Now have $200 into an aftermarket clutch you really need with any swap to more power but can get away without. Its a fun project but how much is a cart worth. Some people don't mind but I have other toys and things to budget for so dropping a grand cash is something I have to consider closely, and have a lot of options for that kind of coin.

They aren't for sale in CA because they are not CARB compliant. So you wont see a legal build thread from anyone in CA.

Sometimes I really hate this place... most of the time I really hate this place! Too many rules and you always have to pay to play .

I know, like golf carts contribute to so much pollution....I don't see it. Odds are the new engine is much cleaner than the old worn out one. My clone I can rarely smell any exhaust at all compared to the tired original one. Once I put a little bean oil in it for effect, that was nice. Then the new engines get to running very poorly because you can't tune them after some years of wear affects them, can't tune for load they run, etc.

I hear if you move to AMERICA then you don't have to worry about all that.

I know I know. I agree, it is that bad.

Hard to find surf though in most of America. That's about all that's keeping me here at this point... and employment... and fear of leaving what I know.

Well with a 25% coupon the engine is only $525. I know thats still a lotbbut i figyre i should get at least $300 for my healthy g16 motor. Also it would cost close to that price to build a clone 460cc single with that much hp and you still wouldnt have the torque

We tried 2 harbor freight V-twin clones, both of them broke valves around 4500rpm.... Currently the 460 with Billet Rod is MUCH faster and more reliable.

Max speed on an EZGO TXT with 22s was about 25mph.

I think once we have an aftermarket for the HF twins, they will make for a good engine, but it doesn't share any parts with any other engine on the market...that I can find anyway.

Really? The 460 has a LOT more power? What about torque? I need something to haul 4 adults up a mountain and still go over 30 mph on straightish roads. My healthy g16 motor with dons power up kit aint cuttin it.

Matt, 4 adults uphill, and 30 mph??? That's prob exceeding the weight capacity of the cart. If you are talking 200 lbs each, that's 800 lbs of passengers, prob 200 lbs of beer and guns, and 700 lbs of cart. 1700 lbs....way too much. Very dangerous. Even more if they are adults like me, lol. 2 adults? Now we're talking.

If you want the most power you can get, go with a Briggs Vanguard in the 18-20hp range. With a rev kit these will get the job done. Built? You are talking serious power!

The VC440 will get the job done with 2 passengers and light cargo. The 440 will be faster on the top end, with a rev kit, more like 40 mph with 23" tires.
