Default Need suggestions Yamaha G2 420 swap

My mom just put a huge hole in the side of their yamaha g2 engine.
We're planning on a 13hp predator swap now
Mom uses this thing the most and I'm wondering if we should use the stock starting and stopping setup with the starter/gen or just make it key start where the engine doesn't shut off until the key is.

How would I go about doing either option?

I've read hundreds of pages here on the forum the past week or so. and am still lost.

I love the pedal start but I don't trail ride all the time, I also do yard work and etc. and its just much easier. I can be 50 yards away before my friend gets his utv started and in gear lol.

So to keep it all you have to do is keep the mount there and leave the wiring alone. You also need to use a clutch with a belt pulley on it, or use the stock clutch with an adapter. Most pulley clutches are taper fit so you need the adapter to use them on a 1" shaft like the clone. You will have to cut the crank shorter to fit this in the cart, but its not that hard to cut. Otherwise the motor hits the fuel tank in a G2/9. Either you buy a mount or make one. The exhaust is something you will have to figure out as is the airbox/filter. You can use the yamaha one if you don't care about top speed performance as its a little restrictive.

If you don't use the stock clutch key start or pedal, you have to buy a 200-400 dollar 1" shaft clutch. If you use key start you need an electric start engine, you need to charge the battery once in a while or find a 18a charge clone so far I only know home depot online has them (not sure if HF has them?), or put a car alternator on it. If you keep pedal start/gen it will charge like it always has 15a. Many clones are only 3a charge and after while the cart needs a charge. Key start you can use the clone key moved, or use a typical small B&S engine key for a lawn mower with a magneto ignition (B&S and clones/hondas both use those its the coil on the flywheel magnet deal with no power needed).

Sounds like we'll keep the pedal start.i was planning on calling vegas carts tomorrow and ordering a clutch adapter already anyway.
Is it possible to use the stock predator exhaust or will it not clear?

I've also noticed the different ways people have hooked the throttle cable up. Most have it hooked up to the governor arm and some have a bell crank setup. How would I hook that up and still keep the governor functioning? Improbably just over thinking it.

Pretty sure the clone muffler you have to make a pipe to lower it if you want to use it. Same issue with the airbox on top, but you can take the filter off and cut the stock hose into 90 elbows then use a piece of (?) 1 1/4 pvc to connect to the yama filter. I did that on mine until I got my rig all set up with a car airbox. I'd try to use the cart governor if you can rather than the clone one, but either will work just the cart one will work better. The clone one will limit engine rpm not cart speed.

We can make exhaust if we have too. This isn't going g to be a hot rod by no means so the less fabrication the better.

Found this pic here on the forum. Is this using the engine governor?

Thanks for the help.

Not using cart governor may or may not be using engine governor.Looks like vegascarts throttle bracket. If vegascarts supplied the engine it's governor has been removed.

I think that is where I got the pic. So they're just using the governor arm as a throttle attachment point with the governor guts removed?

Yes that is how they do it.I changed it around to come off of my transaxle. Check clone threads under clone throttle for picture of my set up. I then tie wrapped governor arm to bypass it,but it is still there if for some reason I wish to use it.Also want to note I used sho305's 5 pin bosch relay using my key switch rather than pedal start .I use my cart like a car driving on the island so hooking it up this way eliminates a lot of stopping and starting of my engine.

I've seen your throttle setup raydhd. That's one option I'm looking into.
Got a link to the relay post sho?
