Default g2 clone swap

So upon installing the motor and mounts and getting the clutch aligned I'm running into a issue where the starter is basicly resting on the case of the motor with the belt being on and is super tight. Should I take the starter off and grind down the starter mount for some clearance? Pics

My clone was quite tight also.I took half off the dipstick thumb handle .The belt was very taut to begin with.Over time more clearance has evolved.

Yea I trimmed down my dipstick alot too. My concern is the pressure of the starter being on the case of the motor. Or excessive rattling or vibration may damage the case?

I just went down and looked at mine and there is about 1/2 inch clearance between the two.It appears you need a bigger belt.

Sheesh. I duno wht mines so tight. Scared to even remove it. I did have it on there with the s.g bracket moved all the way to the front and still had this issue but was a little easier to get the belt on. I may end up grinding down the mount on the starter and try to love the s.g bracket forward again and see if there's any difference.

I wonder if the pulley on your S/G is bigger in diameter and this is causing issues.I think you might want to look at getting a longer belt before cutting anything.

If you don't want to wait, you can always get a belt at you local parts store for $5....just sayin. I'm one of those guys who can't wait 5 days for "a mistake" if you know what I'm sayin. Take that belt with you and they can measure it and get the next size longer.
