Default engine bracket tensioner

When I bought my G14 years ago it had broken motor mounts and no engine tensioner bracket.So I replaced the motor mounts and fabbed up a tensioner bracket.When I installed the clone with its VC engine adaptor plate I did not replace the tensioner. But I have noted something just hasn't felt just right.So today I fabbed up a heavy duty tensioner and the cart really accelerates smoother than ever. Here is my MKII version.

That should work, I never took a pic of the one I made I'll try to some time when the airbox is off. Its not good to not have one!

I did something similar to mine, and it helped a lot. Guess the motor mounts were worn more than I thought. I prefer a motor mount that is bolted solid like the one I have now for my Vtwin. It doesn't move at all.

It now has been 1 week after I installed my home made tension bracket.I can say it does improve acceleration and has survived many Ray tests.

@raydhd

So.. It ties the engine mount plate to the front of the swing arm?

I've noticed my rubber isolation mounts allow my engine to move back a little as the clutches engage.

It works fine, but I'm thinking it maybe could be better

You will notice a difference when you drill the throttle.

Yes a solidly mounted engine will have better off the line "feel" in the torque and acceleration. It won't really help it to be faster, but it will feel like it's got a little more pull off idle and when you blip the throttle.

The mounts keep vibration down. The tensioner is for engine torque, when you gas it hard the belt pulls the engine to the trans. That causes the CVT to get screwed up and shift poorly because you just (more or less) fitted a longer belt if the engine to trans distance has been reduced. It will cause bogging, poor hill climbing or towing, or poor take off. So the tensioner pulls tight when you gas it hard to limit the engine moving to the trans, you may feel vibration from it at that time, I put a rubber washer on mine to help and also reduce shock load on the bracket when it hits. For low throttle operation it will make no difference. It can destroy the mounts eventually if you don't have one.
