Default Kohler 14hp little off topic

with the knowledge that I have been privy to here I figured this would be the best place to start. I was repairing a basket case John Deere. Motor was changed to a Kohler 14 with a mechanical fuel pump that was missing of course. I put a pulse mikuni fuel pump on it but I need to find a place to put the pulse line. Any ideas where I could tap in for the pulse line?

Hmmm, maybe make a block off plate where the mechanical pump should be, with a barbed fitting to hook the pulse line to. That will be in the base of engine.

The best place seems to be where the pushrods are, if you can get to it. My clone I drilled into the rocker cover but so it went through both walls to the inside. The clone has a partition and valve in there. You can also use the crankcase but tends to push oil into the line. Some use the intake but I had problems with that overflowing the carb and don't want a return line on my cart. I used a brass barb fitting with a 1/8" npt thread on it, something like a 3/8" hole needed for it so its smaller than the typical 1/4 npt ones.

Far as oil in the line, its better to put the pump close and above where you connect it, then the oil has less chance of being a problem.

I tapped into the valve cover up high, and only went through the outer skin( into and not through the 'PCV chamber)

There's a pic in big block talk thread '14 hp kohler single'

Ha, thinking about this OT post. Got a free rear tine tiller, tore into the B&S and got it running. It has a plastic camshaft in it, nice. Got assembled and yep, tiller has no gears lol, so have to split the thing in half to see what is in there. Machine looks nice other than not being at all operable and says 2006 on the motor. Even the tines are not worn much. Family said fix that smaller tiller it would be easier to run...... What was I thinking.
