Default 1990 electric CC predator 420 swap

Hi all, I took ownership of the CC from my mother. After fighting tooth and nail with the batteries, charger, and wiring I gave up. Then I found this place. I have gotten a lot of great ideas from this site. I had plans to for a 212 swap but my six year old talked me into the 420 once we were in HF lol. I'm going to build a motor mount similar to how the gas CCs are. I now know I'm going to have to use a jackshaft. It's going to be a long build because of my job, please have patience. Here are a few pictures so far: sorry for the crappy cell pics.

I have know idea what or how to put a sprocket on the 10t splined rear end shaft. I also don't know what size gears to use on the rear end, jackshaft, and engine. I plan on using a 1'' 14t clutch and jackshaft from Northern tool. Please help

Yeah I was aware of no reverse, I noticed all the gas CC rear ends looked different. I would like to have a revers but its not in my budget. It is already blown because of the new 420 motor.

Guy on here added reverse to his, not sure of cost. Only issue is you can use cheaper clutches (cvt) on the 6.5hp you can't use a tav2 on the 420cc.

He put a reverse unit on there it was not the gas cart trans.

You're not talking about Item# 233514 from Northern Tool, are you?

The single speed, centrifugal clutches do not lend themselves well to a golf cart. The centrifugal will burn out much quicker.

The variable speed clutches used in gas carts really do make a HUGE acceleration/performance difference and last much longer.

I ran a 212cc with CVT and it performed rather nicely. Far better than any stock cart although not nearly the capabilities of a 420.

Bronsonj, yeah I was talking about 233514. I guess I'll have to spend more money and run a torque converter. This is what I get for going with a bigger engine. The main trouble I'm having is figuring out what final ratio I should use. Is 1:1 good? I'm not going muddling or trail riding mostly yard and street use.

Also does anyone know if the sprockets at tractor supply will work with a 40/41 chain? They say #2040

Stock carts usually have about a 13:1 ratio in the trans, that is good for maybe 20mph on stock tires and 30 on 22s, if you have no governor. The CVT usually goes to a top gear of .9 overdrive so that makes about 11:1 total ratio at top speeds. HS gears for most carts are 8:1 (compared to 13:1 stock) and some carts you can get 6:1 gears that really go fast. Most cart and lawn engines will do 4-5K rpm depending, and up to 6K modded or more if you go wild with the engine. Some engines only get 3600 though, it depends. Best to get one you can put a rev kit on and get 5K at least. My clone with a few mods and stock cam will run 38gps on 22s so far, its moving. It has a 94c primary right now and a stock (new) yamaha secondary.

So if you chain it with a ratio and multiply that to the stock electric rear you have, that ratio can equal 11-13:1 range to be like a stock cart or lower to go faster. Higher gearing will hurt takeoff power and pulling power, hills, etc.

This guy bought a reverse, not knowing how much they are. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/clone...tor-again.html
