Default 13hp Honda vs 16hp duromax

I have had my honda in my cart for a few weeks now. Seems to be doing fine but does not have the power of the duromax. Yes I know there is 3 hp of change but it feels alot more than that. I can say this, the valve noise in the honda is like nothing compared to the duromax. They turn the same rpm's but the torque dont seem to be there in the honda. I also changed the clutches when i done the swap. Clutch on engine is used but very little. Clutch on rear is brand new. Could this be some of my problem. I know my old clutches that was on the duromax worked but they both were stock 95 models.

Forgot to tell: 1995 Club Car Carry-All II.

390 vs 420 is part of it.
Could be jetting, timing, compression plenty of variables.
Honda valvetrain will be quieter, better parts.

Make sure to Check your belt tension. A loose belt will limit the overall top speed drastically if to loose. Also, valve train will be louder with the longer stroke.

OK, not trying to be a douche but trying to understand how valvetrain noise has anything to do with crankshaft stroke? One has nothing to do with the other....

The cam on the 16hp will be more aggressive also, that will add valve chatter. Different parts, yes, might make a difference. But are the valves adjusted the same? More valve clearance will make more chatter.

Crank stroke shouldn't have anything to do with valve chatter.

Your clutches are different, so the "FEEL" of the power will be different. Not a fair comparison because of that. But the 420 cc is larger, more displacement = more power.

So I think your comparison difference is from having more power and better/different clutches. The chatter might be valve lash, but the Clones are known to be noisy.

I wonder if we aren't talking longer stroke more vibration?

So there's a big difference in 3 HP you are saying?
That's good to know as I don't know what engine I want to put in my cart.

I doubt that clone in stock form is putting out 16hp. Modded.....yes it will lay down some nice numbers. As far as quality then the Honda is the way to go. If your looking to build a power house and get the most bang for your buck then buy a 420 clone and mod it. If you have the cash I strongly suggest buying a clone from Vegas Carts.

Well that's just it, I don't know what route I wanna go.
But I'm thinking just a 6" lift and 22" or 23" tires.
Then an engine to move it easily.

The stock engine will move it easily, just not in all situations. What will you be doing with the cart?
