I have had the same engine for about 3 years now. I drilled out the jet and it helped. If it sits for a week cranking for 30 seconds seems to be normal. Choking always helps. If your choke cable is limiting the choke from fully closing it will take longer to start. I think due to the iffy quality of the duromax carb starting cold every time like your car or real Honda engine is just not going to happen.

I richened my main and the idle, I only use the choke when its under 60F even if it sits for a couple weeks. I do have a car airbox and header to a car muffler which makes it need to be richer than if you don't. Richer on the idle jet makes it start much nicer, turn the mix screw out if that is not enough then you have to enlarge the idle jet to get more fuel. They are very lean from the factory.
