Default Swapping cranks

So long story short, I would love to put the 69mm crank in my engine. It's an older Carroll Stream 390cc. On top of that my buddy has a brand new never run 340cc HF engine that needs a crank. He sold it because he was trying use that engine in a generator and the generator crank he got for it has a different taper. Has anyone swapped to the long stroke crank in different colors? I've heard some clones have issues and some don't. It would be easier and cheaper to get the stroker crank for the new engine than a replacement one. He could care less about performance for what he will be doing with the 340. I on the other hand would love some more displacement and torque.

The crank is only $59 from VC . Not exactly a king's ransom for a test. You might want to call them if they have any info.

I'm pretty sure the VC stroker crank will fit GX390 clones, not sure on the 340 engines. There could be some clearance issues if the head is different? Also it might be necessary to clearance the inside of the engine case. I know with the install of the billet rod there are clearance issues, so I'm assuming with more stroke you might have some grinding to do.

The 340 has the same stroke as a 390, same part number crank too. More wondering about deck height. I don't want to get into cutting the piston down for his engine. Mine I don't care.

When going to a 69mm crank, you will must have a billet rod and you'll have to clearance the inside of the camshaft as well as the balance shaft(or just remove it).

:( Thanks for the heads up. Why do you have to have the billet rod?

The extra stroke puts significantly more stress on the rod. We took the standard rod engines off the website because of too many failures.

Think of it this way, once you go to a billet rod, you can upgrade the cam and wake the engine up without having to worry about it self destructing.

I wouldnt push billet rods if you didnt need them, we literally make $20 on them so its not a profit center....BUT, if your stock rod fails, youre going to be replacing the crank and whatever else it takes with it (sometimes they ventilate the block). Its just cheap insurance!

Oh I understand about the failure, mine engine has already seized one stock rod. But for my buddies engine that is going to be a mud motor for duck hunting, he will still be using the governor. For my cart with no governor, I would definitely go with the ARC rod.

Geoff mentioned to ask you about this same thing cept different in ways.. could i not just use my newly replaced 390 Crank shaft and buy a 460 billet rod from you and 460 piston and rings and get my cylinder bored out.? Or would I have to get the Crank shaft as well?
