Default Tachometer and muffler questions on VC 460

Finally have my 460 installed with the optional Comet clutch and HD Secondary clutch, it runs great and is ridiculously quick (for a cart') on 24" tires.

Only issue so far is the tachometer wiring. The green wire for the pickup which normally hooks up to the (-) side of an automotive coil, is still a bit perplexing on a single cylinder engine without a standard coil. Can this wire be hooked up to the white kill switch wire and function (often here of go cart racers doing this)? The tachometer is a Sunpro Supertach III.

I feel like I have been robbed with the so-called 'quiet muffler'.. It is anything but quiet. What ATV or motorcycle muffler will actually quiet this thing down and not get me kicked out of the Disney campground?

Thanks everyone!

I had the sun pro III. It worked for a while then started erratic readings later on .Switched to the equus 8068 and that worked out well.On exhaust see my thread"clone exhaust "in this section.

Most all tachs you need an inductive pickup, that is why the equus works well. There are a couple big threads here on exhausts.

Okay, thank you for the responses. I am going to try out the hushpower silencer. VC must live next to a gun range or drag strip and have a considerable loss of hearing, to remotely consider labeling their Walker muffler as a 'quiet' alternative.

As for the Tach, I already have it. Can I hook it up to the kill switch wire to make it operate, as I read the entire 'Clone Exhaust' topic and didn't see a point where you described how you made it work.

That was elsewhere but I had the green wire hooked to the black clone kill wire.Mine worked that way for a while and then would really jump around at higher rpms.I still have mine ,nice tach .I also got the idea from the lawn mower racers before finding BGW. I may try it on my tractor.I would guess the walker is quieter than the rlv but is a long way from residential or golf course sound levels. The walker is probably the best thing they have found that will fit the various carts they make kits for.I hope you looked at my thread in detail as to really get the hushpower to fit my cart with some ground clearance I ended up using a 4" lift kit.

I have a metal Jeep body with 24" tires and a 4" lift, no issues with clearance for exhaust. Thank you, that is what I read on various go-cart racing forums to do. I plan to drive my cart at Disney, so residential quiet is a must. Ordered the hushpower this morning

Just be sure to brace it properly or it will crack the weld between the inlet pipe and muffler body.Several others had trouble in this area before taking steps to support the muffler body.

Have you heard the VC460 with their "other" muffler? If you did, you'd think the one you have IS quiet.

Yeah the RLV I wondered if a beer can with holes drilled in it might have been quieter.
