I have never heard of a Hemi-head 420 of any flavor.. This will be a learning thread for me, i'll keep watching it.

I did manage to find a few images of this engine. There must be an explanation on why they never were mainstream hop up motors, there's just about no mention of them online.

There is quire a bit on the 212 cc version used by the go kart crowd. The larger 420 cc version did not produce the results vegascarts was looking for. There is some discussion on this on there discussion site. All the rage these days with 2 valve engines such as nascar and big inch harley clones is a small squish area which favors the wedge over the hemi.

Also there is tons of stuff for the normal clone, mods to this hemi would have to be made new. If they are not popular enough nobody will bother. Seems like HD springs would not be a big deal though there are lots of small engines. Seems odd they would use a goofy size spring/etc.

thanks for the replys, would it be possible to put a regular predator 420cc head on hemi head block, i think i heard of someone doing this but i am not sure, i believe the hemi head block has a flat top piston so if i was able to use a regular predator head it should bump up the compression i would think, but then there might be piston to valve clearance issue maybe ?

Vegascarts has played with that too. They can tell you what fits what. There is a whole section on the vegascarts forum on the hemi head.

Call VC direct though, the email response can be very slow,.. I think they prefer a call vs email. (Sounds crazy but i think thats how they like it)

The engine was a loncin mainly imported for california by harbour freight. You can identify it by the rectangular rocker cover rather than the typical clone hexagon. The mini bike crowd also explored this engine with much the same result as vegascarts.Harbour freight still lists it as # 60349.
