Default Workhorse clone mount

Hello all. New to the forum been lurking like most and searching and reading a lot. I have a lifted workhorse with the 350 Robin engine that is worn out on both ends and in the middle, smokes and low compression will not pull up a hill from a dead stop with you in it. Any how I ordered a clone engine from eBay today for a steal... I know ya get what ya pay for but an electric start 420cc 15hp powerland clone for 189 free shipping. I got a 780 comet clutch from small engine warehouse for 89.99 shipped. With all that said I really do not have the money to buy the prefabbed mount bracket. Has anyone on here canned their own mount plate using the factory wishbone? I have the metal and the welder and such to fab one with just looking for something to pattern it after. I did see a pic or two of a mount someone made using the rear half of the factory mount but did not see finished product or how it worked out.

😬 guess I counted my chickens before the eggs hatched. Small engine warehouse just emailed me stating they did not have the clutch which I ordered and would be refunding my money... so I guess I will be searching for a clutch now... May be a sign I need to cut the shaft and run my stock clutch so I can run the stock s/g....

You can still run a 780 clutch and your starter generator if you want
Look up Vegas carts they have a pully that goes behind the clutch to turn your starter

I saw that and the mount from Vegas Carts I am trying to keep cost down as much as possible and I was supposed to be getting a 780 comet from small engine warehouse. I have no idea what charging system the new engine has I was gonna see what it had and try to get by with it. Since I did not get my budget clutch I will just run my original and try to make a mount for original s/g if I can not get it ironed out I will order one from VC. Thanks for the info hope I am not sounding ungreatful.

No I definitely understand you
Get a clutch adapter for your original
I would go with a steel one I've been using one on a marathon for years without any problem
I would also try to make the generator work they charge and start much better than clone parts
Good luck on your buuld

IT'S ALIVE!!!! I got my clone engine Friday had a plan and executed it today. Took the engine off this morning and took a piece of 4"x8" 3/16 rectangle shaped iron and cut it to close to the width of the base. I then cut a piece of 1/4 plate to put on top. Drilled holes in the 4x8 and bolted it up like the stock engine went. Drilled two holes in the front end of the 4x8 and the 1/4 plate and two more in the rear of the plate. I bolted the plate to the 4x8 with the plate in between and used the stock throttle bracket and cable with the spring end. I plan to do something with the stock muffler cause it is to close to the bed. I also plan to weld the rear of the plate to the 4x8 then gotta hook up a fuel pump vacuum and permanent fuel line but I did get it to run and rode it back on the trailer for the trip home and man what a huge difference.
