Default G2 Rear axle

I bought a used g2 axle and installed it on my G1 yamaha.
It had no retainer clip so I ordered and installed the proper spacer washer looking thing. My problem is when in medium to heavy throttle I can hear alot of clanking sound coming from that back clutch the only way it makes no noise is if I drive very slow 2mph lol..

Thanks for your help

Default Re: G2 Rear axle

Should hear nothing. The spacer goes on so the clip slot in the splines are just visible, make sure its not reversed, it should hold the secondary in the same place. Then the spring holder, spring, movable sheave, fixed sheave and half moon key, washer, nut, cotter pin in the shaft so it can't fall off....iirc correctly. Stock they have a nylon washer between the sheaves also, but its not that important. If its trashed you should buy a new nut, the nyloc part goes bad sometimes, highly recommended if you put a larger spring in the secondary (and must use the spacer to replace the c-clip behind clutch or it will fail if it has not already). You can also check the diagram in yamaha parts at tntgolf site they show a drawing of the parts in order, or they used to.

Or the bushing in your movable sheave is toast and wobbling, or maybe the pads on the spring holder for the ramps are toast, check that stuff.
