Default started the build......finally

this has been awhile coming, but finally started Friday night. got the old engine and rear end out. actually, we took it out cradle and all in one piece.
had to do a lot of fab work, since I was replacing the two stroke ezgo rearend with a Yamaha four stroke rearend. also started with a engine mount. we made the mount out of two inch tubing bent at the correct curve to fit inside the frame. we then welded tangs on the front, and rebolted it to the existing mounts on the cart

since the "new" rearend sits under the new cradle, we had to fab up some steel plate to mount the old lift towers, and the shocks to the top of it. fairly simple to do when you have access to a full blown machine shop. still have to mount shocks, and do final welding. going to make a plate for the engine to sit on that goes between the cradle in the front, and sits on the top of the cradle in the rear. doing this lets the engine sit pretty level.

here are just some random pics. had to stop Saturday evening and make a trip to the e.r. got four stitches because I evidently haven't learned that a cut off saw is for cutting metal. lol.

I am using the 15hp lifan engine. I removed the fuel tank, and air cleaner from it. also removed the stock muffler. I have replaced the carb, with the one from vegas carts. also am going to use the air filter from them too. I will use the original fuel tank on the cart. everything is going well so far. problay be a few days before I work on it again.

I have a question, when I install the engine, do I simply line up the clutches center to center.

Looks good, I just finished up repowering my Marathon with the same engine. I'll be swapping my rear differential in the fall though as I've ran out of project cash after all the go fast parts for the engine....

You have to line up the drive belt so it is straight between both clutches, or if you can measure the offset between each fixed sheave on another cart and copy that (if same clutches). Clutches should be parallel.
