Marathon engine swap done, now on to the rear diff
Well, I've completed the engine swap but since I found a great deal on a 4 cycle rear diff I've moved onto that part of the build. I've got the rear dropped and pulled the driven clutch. The clutch came right off but I'm having issues with it not wanting to separate. I've pulled the snap ring but the clutch just isn't separating, I've got it soaking in blaster with hopes it decides to cooperate...
Here are a few pics.. |

Re: Marathon engine swap done, now on to the rear diff
I took mine in to a shop and they had to use a press of some sort. Not really sure what they ended up doing. The did tell me that the clutch getting stuck is a common problem. Someone will chime in.

Re: Marathon engine swap done, now on to the rear diff
I started with 2 driven clutches, one that came in the newer rear and then the original, unfortunately I found out how much force I can put on one..... :(
Not much, which I already knew, but of course my eagerness got in the way. Everything I've been reading is to gently beat around the helix it until it gives. I have a real problem with gentle ;) |

Here are a few other pics, as you can see my ramps were completely wore one one clutch and then the other clutch the ramp screws broke so I combined the 2 clutches to make one good one....
