Default carb fuel pump problem

put a vegas cart adj. carb on the 420cc lifan.
new fuel pump. cant get carb to pick up fuel.
I have the hose from the gas tank going to
the barb on the fuel pump with the arrow
pointing towards the pump. the barb marked with
the letter P has a hose going to the adapter plate
behind the carb, and the last hose with the arrow pointing
away from the pump goes to the carb. when I pour
gas into the carb, it fires right up and runs until
that gas is gone, then dies. any suggestions.

Look at our instructions (Page 28 )

This might help.

Hook pulse up, make sure all connections are TIGHT, pull fuel line off carb and turn engine over until you see fuel coming out of that hose. Connect to carb and try again. If no fuel comes out, something is hooked up wrong or your pump is bad. Also, you will most likely need a return line to the tank once you get it running so it doesn't flood.

Mines off the valve cover so I don't know. My guess would be something is loose, missing gasket, something preventing it from sealing somewhere. That or your pump is bad. Does your old pump work at all? You could hook it up....

I cant feel any vacuum coming from
the carb adapter plate, so I am going
to remove the adapter and put a fitting
on the valve cover. will let you know if
this solves my problem.

I bet it will. I'be never tried it where you have. Only valve cover and works for me. Remember, put a return line between pump and carb going back to tank. Takes 5 min and will save your garage from filling with gas.

Try this for your bypass.

Try turning it over with the carb closed at idle, it makes a really strong signal then and should pump more. You may need to prime it by taking the fuel line off the carb and slightly pressurizing the tank or letting it pump until fuel comes out at carb, then hook it up and see if it works. Pulse pumps not that good at priming, many times a product (cart/ sled/etc) is built with the top of the tank above the pump and that gravity feeds it, so they will not prime unless the tank is full (for when the pump is full of air) to gravity feel the pump/carb for a full prime.

I have one clone pulse off the intake required a return line or it overflowed when at idle, the other clone off the valve cover under the partition and it does not have a return line. Both use stock G9 fuel pump.
