Miss in the engine causing vibration? I would check the valve lash, spark plug. If in the ignition it will tend to do it all the time or maybe more with more throttle. If its lack of fuel it will do it more under load, too much fuel usually black smoke comes out exhaust and it does it less when you floor it.

got the miss in the engine fixed.
just a carb adjustment. removed the belt.
started the engine, still has vibration.
thought maybe it was something in the
rear end. removed the clutch. didn't help.

when I took the belt off and started the engine,
the clutch (comet 780) pulley got narrow towards
the engine to where I can see inside the clutch.
what do I do now.

They do that, should pop back open. There is a post here about that but I don't have a 780. With no belt they can close too far, there is some easy way to get them back right but I don't know it offhand.

Only thing comes to mind is if balancer shaft is out of time, but that would be that way since it was put together. Something with the clutch broke inside, that can cause out of balance, but unlikely if the clutch is new/good condition.

I bought the clutch new from
vegas carts. also, when I
started the engine without the belt on,
the clutch opened up. I did not see
anything broken inside.
