Vegas Carts head gasket?
I bout a 460 from Vegas Carts last summer, I have about 40 some odd hours on it. Tuesday I went for a ride, drove about a mile and it started getting real loud, went about another mile and lost power and died. Noticed oil coming out of the motor between the head and crankcase. I just pulled the head off and everything looks ok, don't see any cracks in the head or crankcase, I'm guessing the 3 layer metal gasket is just bad. Has anyone else had issues with a head gasket on the 460?

Re: Vegas Carts head gasket?
Looks like its more than a head gasket, put it back together, torqued the head down, set the valves, fired it up and it sounds like it's coming apart on the inside, calling VC on Monday and either sending it in for repair or ordering a new engine. Kinda bummed, only had the engine 11 months, and now this.

Let us know what happened. I'm on my second engine. First one swallowed a valve with less than 5 hrs on it. This one runs great...

Re: Vegas Carts head gasket?
I tore it completely down, needs new rod bearings, new cam, the intake lobe is wore real bad. Culprit? not enough oil, the engine sits at a pretty good angle, around 30 degrees, I had put oil in it until it was running out of the fill hole but it was not enough. I ordered another motor and will rebuild this one on down the line and put it in something else. I'm modifying the engine mount plate to get the engine more level so it will get enough oil where the oil needs to be. The guys at Vegas Carts were real helpful on trouble shooting and great to work with. It's a somewhat expensive mistake on my part, but you live and you learn!

Raydhd has a post here about the honda dipstick and tube, and he overfills his clone a little. Anyway if you can fit the tube its much easier to check and add oil.
