Default Replacement spark plug question

I am still breaking in my Vegas Carts 460 clone. It'has been starting fine and yesterday I took it to an atv park. I get it off the trailer and it won't start. It was backfiring when turned over and with one exception it never even caught like it was going to start. I pulled the plug. It was mildly sooty but I've pulled far worse plugs from engines that were running fine. I do a lot of short trip driving doing farm chores which may account for the soot accumulation.

My engine had the original Torch F6TC spark plug. My son rode off to buy the most expensive plug I'very ever bought. The park parts store cross referenced the Torch plug to an NGK Ridiumix BKR8EIX2668. Does anyone have an opinion on these plugs and/or if it is a good option for my engine. It does start and run well, always a good sign.

Well, since no one posted saying they've used this plug I guess I'm the point man. Maybe I'll check with Vegas Carts on using it but so far so good.

I'm using NGK BP6ES. Has been fine for 2 years or so since I've had the motor. I don't remember why but for some reason early on when I first bought the motor (new) I swapped to the ngk plug...

I did some research on the Ridiumix plug. The general consensus seems to be that the big advantage is longevity. Guys with cars that have all but impossible to get to plug locations are successfully running them 100,000 miles. Probably not much of an issue for me but I guess I'll run it and see how it goes.

I know the NGK are the best in yamaha carts and many other Asian engines, they worked great in my yami G9 and dealer sold them, yamaha said to use them. NR racing I bought some parts from and they had the NGK for the clone so I got one. Still not put it in because the stock one still works fine. Some have said the stock clone plugs are junk and may be, but it never misses so I rather use it long as it works. I ran the NGK in my stock G9 for many years at a time, but I usually had a spare around or beadblasted one for emergency replacement. I had some fords you must use platinums in, had to use the ford parts in some because the diameter was different and other plugs would short up the boots. Pita but ran fine with stock plugs. I also lube up the boots with dielectric grease on everything I have now, stuff is great you can get them back off later and they waterproof them as well, and keep them from shorting in some cases.

I need to update a couple of threads including this one. I let this cart sit a while due to a combination of being busy and frustration. I am on the fourth plug since the Ridiumix. I have ran both NGK and Champion but was still getting the fouling. I am waiting to see what happens now after a carb adjustment and new plug.

I wold suggest the Autolite 3910X. It's a surface fire spark plug, I've had no problems with mine. I have an adjustable main jet so carburetion is not a problem.

I'm not opposed to running this plug or that one, but I would concentrate on what the problem is I doubt its the plug. Bad mixture problems for example can foul any plug over and over until they are fixed. I don't mean to be a dink just saying few people have issues running X brand plug in clones, compared to say a stock G9 that likes NGK a lot, or family that has an older honda foreman that only runs with certain plugs or else. An old B&S will run with about any plug in it and some engines will not. Clones do not seem to be that picky. I am still running the original Torch plug and I've jetted it, changed the airbox, jetted again, ran it a few years, now put a 32mm CV carb on and jetted it in close, and never changed the plug since I've had it. All the guys on 4cycle (a kart racing site with a lot of clone talk) say stock plugs are junk. My new NGK from NR is still sitting here feeling all left out of the action. I know it can be irritating but once you figure out the issue you can enjoy it that is what we are all here for and try as we can to help. Carts are too fun not to enjoy them. I installed my clone summer 2012. I installed a stock clone only jetted the year before that, it has never had the plug changed and gets run daily excepting winter months. It has way more hours on it than mine.

I'd look for a mixture issue or weak spark.
