Be Gentle...So many questions. Predator 420cc into EZGO
I have a line on an "older EZGO" (year tbd) but the motor is in pieces in a box. For the $300 to HF, it seems like a no brainer. part 60349 That's the one people use right? Sorry I'm too new to post links.
Is there a DIY thread/why isn't there a sticky? Seems I need the following: Mounting cradle DIY or pre-fab from VC Exhaust piping/muffler Canned solution for feeding gas from the big tank and not the little one Tachometer? New rear since Forward will now be Reverse and I will want to maintain my speed. What happens to the governor? Will at matter if the original cart is two or four stroke? The starter/gen is kept so I keep my pedal start. That charges my battery which feeds all the power. The new motor will have an output shaft that I have to put a...clutch/flywheel? on which is on the same belt as the S/G right? Will my old one mount to that or is there a better option? I'm 99% confident I can do this, I just need a little more guidance or at least some better links. I'm sure I'm asking a lot and I very much appreciate any insight you folks can give me. If anyone is in the Frederick, MD area and wants to talk about it over a beer I'll buy! :) ZH |

Only club car has the backwards engine far as I know, and you have to run them in reverse which is a lower gearing so lower speeds.
2 stroke cart has no reverse in the trans, so better if you can find a 4 stroke rear to mount in there or the entire cradle from one. If a 4 stroke you should be good. You can get the adapter and use your stock clutch, or buy a new one many get the 780 comet that fits the 1" shaft clone with no adapter. The stock clutches are taper fit not straight shaft. If you get a clutch without the pulley you need to mount a pulley behind it to use your gen/starter. Cutting the crank is no big deal its not hardened, you can hack saw it off or use a power tool. This is mostly for how much room you have in the cart. In my G9 I had to cut it way shorter because the recoil on the other side was hitting the fuel tank. I had to get the clutch close to the block to make it fit. You need to drill and tap the hole deeper too, if careful its not bad to do. |

Confirmed 4 stroke. Wooo! So excited for this project. Are build threads with Q/A acceptable here as I'm sure I'm going to have lots of questions.
