Default Wiring Lifan 420 UT2

I can't find the thread, but I believe that I have read somewhere around here that the newer rev limited coil (UT2) is different from the others in the way the kill switch is wired. I'm going with the relay wired like Sho's sticky.

If anyone has a relay setup for an electric fuel pump, that too would be nice, I have an idea, but I'm sure someone who understands this better has a neater solution.

I have the non rev limited coil on my Lifan.

What is your question?

For a fuel pump you can just run another relay, run it the normal way where it connects the wires when powered up (opposite of the kill way), and run your pump with it. You could use a 4 pin relay for that if you want. The 5 pin can be wired both ways and required for the kill function the way it has to work (connected when not powered).

I don't know of it being different I think it still grounds to kill, but I don't have one either.

For some reason I thought I read somewhere that it runs grounded and dies when the ground is lost. I do know no power to any wire going to the motor.

The Lifan 420 18a charging UT2 motor uses no unique wiring in regards to what you are describing/ same as any other 390/ 420/ 440/ 460 clone.

I don't have the 18a charging coil on my Lifan, but it is also killed by ground. I don't have a fuel pump setup yet though, so I can't contribute otherwise.

UT2 is Honda, Not Lifan.

Coil on all Lifans is normal, i.e. unlimited.

I think you may have been very lucky in that your (?420) Lifan's rev limiting feature simply did not activate,.. (Unless you are describing the small block family/ but this forum doesnt have any of those fellas so i doubt it,.. And none of the small block Lifan or Honda use the CDI coil)

Lifan is full CDI mirror image of the Honda UT2, you have to use Russel's Honda UT2 non rev limited coil to over-ride the CDI rev limiting feature built into the Lifan coil.

Lifan is not only UT-2,.. But its UT-2 in regards to the ignition system while still having the older UT-1 large port head. (Take that for what you want/ some folks like the small port GX390 UT-2 head, some folks like the older larger port head/ depends on what you are doing)

But Lifan is UT-2 CDI, my coil says "Honda"

Well the head thing i have not personally verified, i'm going off what two popular builders have said,.. Both tried to get me to ~purchase~ (isnt that the magic word LOL) a UT2 head for my Lifan "because it makes its power down low".. (Which also means its not the greatest for putting up big numbers up top),... LOL/ selling man, selling!,.. You always gotta keep in mind folks are running a business.

There are some older Lifan 420's with the standard coil, they now come with the UT2 coil which has a rev limiter. My motor was built to run above 5000RPM's, but the previous owner found the rev limiter comes on about 4200. I have not run it yet, I found lot lots of the magic blue smoke tonight and burned up a lot of the old wiring tonight so I'll have to figure out what happened and do some more wiring tomorrow.

Don't worry the motor was unplugged at the time so it is safe.
