My Vegas Carts 460 in a Yamaha G8 build
Found a Yamaha G8. Dealer took it in on trade and never checked it out. Customer said it didn't run. I brought it home and put a battery in it and changed the spark plug and found a wire to the coil was not connected. I thought, "No way this thing is going to start". It did. It fired right up!
As a bonus it appears to have a new driven clutch as well as drive clutch, not that I'll be using it. I paid $775 for it. My kit is ordered from Vegas Carts and I am awaiting delivery. |

It's amazing how much dirt is under there, eh? And it's also amazing how much better they always look after a good bath!

One of the easiest club threads to join. They have very very low standards. Trust me I know.

Re: My Vegas Carts 460 in a Yamaha G8 build
Food for thought -- when you mount the engine plate onto the swing arm -- put enough shim stock under the rear mount to make the plate level. On my G2 I put one inch of aluminum flat stock and the engine sits level with the cart on its wheels. If you have a lift kit you may need more lift under the engine plate. Read through some of the VC 460 stories and the writers tell how they didn't get many hours on there engine before they had problems cause the engine had too much angle.
I would suggest changing the rubber engine mounts, I did and 3 of the 4 were broken into 2 pieces. |

Good advice. Thank you. The kit apparently comes with nylon spacers for that reason. I should have the kit in a couple of days, so we'll see.
I also ordered 4 replacement mounts. |

I subscribed to this thread. Can't wait to see this build.
1992G8 - Don't be worried about being the first one to put a big block in a g8. Many of us want to it's just that the G8 is sooo much better than any G9 that it's just not necessary to change the stock set up of a G8. Plus G8's look so much better than G9's. So we lift em and keep stock motors and drive them around campgrounds. |
