Default Supercharging a Clone

Here are a few pictures of the supercharger I'm using. It has a pump volume of 500cc per revolution. For me this is great cause it won't have to spin fast. The next thing is superchargers have relatively low friction levels because there are no contacting parts other then to 2 gears that time the impellers. I'm not using an aftercooler like on the go cart but there will be a large intake tube to help eliminate the rotor pulses. I want to use a timing belt to time the pump pulse to when the intake valve is open. This will increase the efficiency of the pump at lower rpms.

These pictures are not mine -- but from others who have already done this.

Why not nitrous? Seems so much simpler and compact.

(I mean if we are honest both are silly, tomato tomato'e)

(Silly not being bad,.. I get it,.. Cause you want to)

Silly is what old people do -- I'm doing it to have fun and fill up what time I have left. As far as Nitrous goes -- one second to long on the button and you've burned up all your work. Back when Easyriders was trying to set a 2 wheel land speed record -- they had to tow start the Streamliner to 110 mph just to let the clutch out in first gear because of the steep gear ratio. The Chevy Dually with a 454 lasted 10 starts using nitrous before burning holes in several pistons.

Its just such a huge assembly (the photos) the draw of the GX390 platform is really good power from a tiny compact package.

It will be fun to watch and learn though.

How much are you thinking a mildly boosted big block is capable of producing while remaining reliable?

5-6 psi boost will up the compression to about 12 to 1.

Go for it! I almost bought one of those supercharges to put on a Buell Blast. Time and money put the brakes on it.

Holes in pistons is too lean, maybe the fuel system was not up to the task in that truck. We ran nitrous plates on boats with 454s, we would hold it on a few minutes straight and then keep burping it to keep speed up. That was an instant +10mph on a 65mph boat, iirc they were 365hp engines. Never had a problem, well one big problem, those tanks don't last very long. Heads and cams ended up making more power, and all the time.

Anyway, superchargers are always fun no matter what you put them on!

Interested to see how this comes together, looking into doing this with our V Twin. Read up on a Aisin AMR300, but not sure about the clearance with the TXT seat if mounted directly to the top of the engine / carb area. Also it looks like Eaton makes a cool twin screw m24 that would lower the height if mounted to the motor with the carb set down as its mounted to the rear of the unit.
