Briggs VG 16hp vs Predator 22hp Compatibility
Found a deal on a super-clean Jacobsen 4800 (basically a Workhorse but with locking differential and the 16hp Vanguard Briggs) ... Looks from the research I've done that the Predator 22 is a direct-ish swap, same shaft, length, keyway, etc - the drawback is that the cart is almost 2hrs away, and I can't find anything online RE the charging system on the 4800 (is it the factory starter or does it utilize a standard EZGO-style as do the VC kits, etc) ... ANYTHING someone could share RE the Jake 4800 would be greatly appreciated !!!

Re: Briggs VG 16hp vs Predator 22hp Compatibility
Oops - found a 4800 manual ... Looks like the factory used a Vanguard w/tapered shaft as well as the standard Starter/Gen with engine-mount brackets, looks like I'll have to shorten, drill and re-tap the shaft to use the regular clutch or just pop for a Comet and starter pulley, probably do some fabbing if the brackets don't bolt onto the HFP the same as the Vanguard, oh well. Anyone know if the HF Clone has all the same mounting points as a Vanguard?

The 22hp HF Twin is much larger in physical size than the Vanguard. You might want to look at that.
I believe they do have the same mounting bolt pattern. |

Why not go with an engine rebuild if needed and keep the 16hp Vanguard?

Re: Briggs VG 16hp vs Predator 22hp Compatibility
Yep, tell me about it, just picked up 2 4-stroke Marathons last night for $500, LOL ... I'm glad I didn't decide to do the HF swap though, for a fast afternoon swap it might have been worth it but after doing a lot more research, etc I'd have just done another VC conversion anyhow, prob cheaper and definitely BETTER in the long run.
