92 trans-sender upgrades
I have recently bought a 92 trans-sender club car electric and I want to start the upgrades. I was hoping someone would be able to give me some insight on what I can do with the body (upgrading to new style body if possible) and I also want to swap this cart over to gas instead of the electric. I ride out in the country a lot and I haven't found a can of electricity yet to carry with me in case I run out so gas is a better deal for me. I bought this cart(limo) at a rediculous deal so this is why I'm doing this. I know I have to swap the rear end out and I have some work ahead of me, but I do have the mechanical ability and just don't want to reinvent the wheel if someone has already done this and could help with some insight. Thanks

Re: 92 trans-sender upgrades
The best way to achieve this is to buy a running gas cart of the same make and vintage. Then dismantle the running gas cart and put the drive and control systems into the electric cart.

Re: 92 trans-sender upgrades
The only problem I am finding with this is that this cart is a 92 trans-sender limo and I can't find any of them and can't find any info of someone even upgrading one of these at all.... I can't even find any pics of any that have been upgraded at all... I spoke with CPP (don't remember guys name) and he told me that these carts were desirable anyway because of them being hard to find the old ds limo carts... just didn't realize that it would be this difficult to find anyone who has upgraded one of them.
And also it says Trans-sender on the side of it not transporter don't know if that makes any difference. |

Re: 92 trans-sender upgrades
Trans-sender sounds very modern. I read politicians want special bathrooms for these carts.
Seriously - the whole electric to gas conversion thing is kind of iffy. You need serious skills to make this work reliably and it will not cost less than a set of good batteries. Most all of these ideas end up tossed out and the majority of these carts that actually make it into construction never make it to the everyday usable cart status for a number of problems. A lot of engineering goes into a project like this. |

Re: 92 trans-sender upgrades
Along those lines if you get the whole engine cradle out of any 4 stroke cart and you can cut and weld it isn't all that bad of a job.

Re: 92 trans-sender upgrades
The Trans-Sender, and Trans-Porter are a Carryall VI (6) platform,
There are some things that concern me about changing this cart over to a gasser... 1) The Club Car "utility" transaxle is (I think) about 2" or so wider/longer than most standard carts, you can still use that transaxle if... IF... you can find a used transmission to replace the electric motor. (not made anymore) 2) As Ray said, you'll need a gasser engine cradle... but a CA VI cradle would be best. 3) You'll need to be VERY good to work out all of the electrical/mechanical aspects of the change over. I'm going to have to agree with Scotty... It may be a difficult changeover! (especially with THIS particular cart) Since you got such a great deal on it, I'd suggest selling it, (these limo's are VERY sought after) and getting a gasser cart! My .02 |
