Default Comet 780R

This morning I replaced the factory arms and rollers with the 106 gram weighted ones and put in the green springs, as suggested by comet. I wanted the clutch to take up sooner than the roughly 1800 plus RPMs to more like 1200 or so, plus I wanted it to shift out sooner. Now I'm starting to move at 1250 RPMs and am fully shifted out at 2500 RPMs. Much nicer setup I must say. I drive my cart on the street as well as in the hills and valleys of the Ozarks both for pleasure and foraging for mushrooms. Right now I'm running my idle circuit a tad rich to compensate for not having a choke setup yet. I've ordered what it takes to add a choke knob on the dash. Right now to start it cold I have to lift the seat and put the choke on manually then start the engine and then take the choke off. The engine dies immediately. I get on cart then it will hesitantly start back up and I can take off. From that point onward I no longer need the choke until the engine has cooled back down. My setup is I turn the ignition key on then mash the go pedal and the engine starts then when I want to shut it down I turn the ignition back to off

The rollers/arms were 37 bucks plus change and the springs were 14 plus change. Around 5 bucks shipping. I purchased the roller/weights and springs at MFGsupply.com Very nice people to deal with, fast shipping, in fact I ordered this all Monday afternoon and they were in my mail box this morning about 9 am. Had everything installed and buttoned up by 12 noon. Went to the woods by 1:00 PM and drove around up and down the hills for an hour. Putting another 6 plus miles on the cart in the process.

I am not, repeat, I am not lugging the engine by any stretch. In fact the engine seems to like this setup much better than the way it was set up when it arrived here. I also put the walker 17862 muffler on shortly after installing the engine. It was still a tad loud but by changing the weights and springs in the 780R clutch it toned it down considerably due to the lower RPMs. Now as I'm traveling in the woods its barely louder than the original flathead kawasaki engine with stock muffler. On the street I don't notice the exhaust except to say it sounds like one HELLof a powerful engine.

Vegas Carts High Performance 460 cc engine is a keeper. I get complements all the time. Lots of what kind of engine do you have and where did you buy it questions.
I hope it all turns out to be more sales for VC.

Hope to install the new rockers they've started selling soon then I think I can stop spending money on this engine.

At 4000 RPMs I'm traveling at a cool 28 MPH. Speed limit in town is 35. When I meet one of the LEO's they wave back as I wave at them. I expect to get stopped soon by one of them to check out what engine I have in this awesome machine.

The VC460 is one awesome engine and a nice setup from a stock golf cart. Money well spent

Here's the correct choke plate adapter for our engines.

I have one on order. Hope it gets here soon. It must be coming on a big boat as its been 10 days since I ordered it

You know how the engine torques back towards the transaxle under load. I plan this morning to see about putting a stop to that. What I have in mind will still allow the motor mounts to let the engine rock to adsorb the vibration but will not allow it to move rearward. Its a matter of getting out there and having a look see to see what I've got to make to accomplish that. I'll be using anti-sway bar rubber bushings as the holding feature, due to the fact I have a set left over from another project.

I'm not sure how your cart overcame that problem with its original form. If you look at the very top of this picture you can see how Yamaha did it in there G2. The torque cable is in line with the drive belt and keeps the center to center measurement from changing. Just an idea

Great photo Shepard. Many make one with a eyebolt or I welded a tab on a bolt. It does the same thing but no cable to break. Use a rubber washer or two behind the double nuts, it pulls tight on them under load.

Posted here before this is my latest version of the torque cable redo. This version seems to smooth out both acceleration and deceleration better.

That looks like cheating Ray....lol just kidding. Not a bad idea to use a mount of some kind. I ran the cable, replaced it and then put a clone in and it broke it. I just made a bolt. I have thought about changing the mount as the one side is flimsy on the G9. But it seems to work fine so have not messed with it. My airbox intake goes down through there also so harder to get at. I'll inspect it as the engine is out right now.

Do you happen to remember the part numbers? I would like to try this on my campground cruiser 460 to make it run smoother at 5MPH. Thanks.

I switched to the red springs in my setup but realized after driving this weekend my ramp plate has some bad wear spots in it so I ordered one to replace mine and also the entire setup David used here are the part numbers on an invoice.

Thank you, that is what I needed, I hate ordering wrong parts and returning them.
