460 engine photos

taken just now after a 10 mile run.

oil temperature 210, head temperature 220. Taken beside the spark plug with a non contact thermometer. Oil temperature gauge I have is a Faze FZ3203 water/oil temp electrical gauge with white face. Sensor is in the oil drain plug on front of engine. I have a drainzit hose in the rear drain. That drainzit hose is the berries for draining the oil for oil changes. No fuss and no mess plus the drainzit hose was only 12 bucks and change

Got any good pics of your drainzit hose and where it is?

The engine has two drains, one in front and one in back. The engine slightly tilts to the rear so the Dranzit hose is connected to that drain. There really isn't a way to take a photo of that as its buried in the space between the engine and the trans axle. Essentially the hose is connected to the drain and when its not being used to drain the oil its simply folded and stashed in the space between the bottom of the engine and the bottom of the engine mount. A space of 2 inches. If you'll look at the picture of the kit for an 86 Club car DS you will see what I'm talking about here

Does it get hot under the seat with that much exhaust pipe inside the engine compartment? I like that the engine points forward --- makes it easy to work on.

Not really. I've go a short, about 6 inch long piece of pvc that after a long drive I stick under the seat to let out heat but it really doesn't get hot under there. Not near as much as it did with the original flat head engine. As soon as I figure out a place to put them and the brackets to hold them I've got a couple springs that I'm going to use so when I get up off the seat they will raise the seat a couple inches but that aren't long enough to cause any bouncing when I'm riding in the cart. The springs are barely strong enough to lift the seat so once I'm sitting down I'll not know they're even there

If I think of it the next time after a long drive I'll get a reading of how much heat there is under the seat. Like on the seat bottom or something like that. when I do I'll let you know what it is. That way both of us will know. Right now my old arse is asking for a Nap so I must comply. It, like my wife, rules..

For exhausting heat would something like a small radiator fan or larger computer cooling fan work? On my TXT I've thought about mounting one in the back of the engine compartment. Essentially the front wall of the bag well with a screened or louvered cover over the fan opening.

I was thinking of that but mine does not seem to get that hot as its all open under there. A big PC case fan blowing out down at the muffler, maybe with a small duct on it to make a tube for the air to be aimed right. A cage fan would be better but not found one. Then just hook it to a snapdisk and let it run, not like it would wear the battery down. I also thought about an air d am under there to push air up on the engine intake side, like on cars under the radiator. But I don't want to push a bunch of dust up in there from the front tire either so not done that.

I'm trying to come up with a breather where I can pull the air for the intake from where the stock DS pulls it in.

It gets mighty dusty in the motor compartment, especially when I'm in the woods doing what I like to do most, hunt for mushrooms

It seems open under there to me too, but we notice a lot of hot air coming out of the engine bay between the seat and panel under the bed on warm days. It is welcome in the winter though! I guess mine is exhausting hot air that way but I wish it wasn't up my back in July.

You might have to make a baffle to go in there and keep the heat away in the summer. My seat has no gap so I never feel heat from it until I get in there for something. Friend of mine had a prowler and we made a foam thing to go under the back of his engine cover, it did the same thing also lot of noise came out of there.
