I've got an old, '66, ford 100 lawn tractor with the k241 engine in it. I had to replace the exhaust valve years ago but other than that its not been touched. Kohler's K series cast iron engines are some of the best ever made. I have a couple k321's and a k341 that are still good engines just need a project to put them in. Heavy as all get outs but touch as nails.

Lots of torque but they don't rev much. I have a cub cadet I think has one in it, I use it for the boss tiller on it I rebuilt. Man that thing tills like nobodies business, it just trashes the garden for me and does it wider than the tractor. Had to make new shafts with sprockets, new bearings, now works like new.

I've heard these motors are tough. They use them alot around here for the lawn mower pulls and races. I am wondering how well it will work if they don't rev much. Might have to do some more homework before I get to carried away with the install. I fid get the clutch off the suzuki this morning. One step at a time.

Most flatheads don't rev well. Depends mostly on the top speed you want. The clones will rev 5K stock with springs and key for 20-30 bucks in parts, another reason they are popular. If you don't care about top speed blasts then it will work fine far as power.

I'm not after a fast cart. Can only run 5 mph at the campground. Found out it is a 8hp and not a 10. Not very happy about that but it is what it is.

A Kohler k241 is a 10 hp engine. 24 cubic inch single cylinder. Good engines and will work all day at its rated 3600 rpms no problem and come back tomorrow and do the same, day in and day out. Good solid engines. Bullet proof if ever an engine was. Heavy little dudes though. Unless it came on a tractor and it has the small oil pan it holds 2 full qts of oil. It would make a good engine for a golf cart if you aren't after 25 plus mph
I have a lot of experience with the Kohler K series engines from the small 8 hp to the 16 hp. Heck I have the 28 hp twin on a generator that is one tough engine. Cast Iron tough.

Heres a link on the spec's of the kohler single cylinder engines.
