Honda valve cover
Where would I find one of these valve covers that has the oil cap in it to put on my VC460?
I found this picture here on BGW and saved it to my computer. Can't remember who posted it to begin with but it was a pretty old thread. Anyways I'd sure like to have one of these valve covers to put on my engine. Sure would make putting oil in much easier and cleaner. 86 club DS |

Re: Honda valve cover
Earlier I did some searching and the only covers like that are on the v twins like you have pictured.

Re: Honda valve cover
A nice suggestion to transmit to VC; they should react quickly and propose it for (almost) sure... they look so "pro-active"

Not sure it will work with my lifters but if it wasn't too outlandishly expensive I'd buy one in a heart beat. It sure would make changing oil a lot less messy. Right now I've got a funnel that I heated up and bent so it sits right but for some reason I don't like using a funnel. I take my funnel and wash it out with running water then blow it dry before I use it but still I'd like to have a valve cover like the one in the photo I posted that has the oil cap in it. My cart is a DS so it would put the cap right where it is easy to get too, no mess Thanks though, I appreciate it |

Anyways I guess I need to go to a honda shop and see what they have and go from there. Thanks OT: Went to the woods yesterday and got another mess of Oyster mushrooms. Had them for supper last night. Mighty good eating. BTW: Where did you find the info you're referring too to help me find it so I can make an inquiry as to if one of these covers would fit this Awesome Clone of mine Peace |

On a side note I painted my stock VC 460 cover and I am surprised at how much valve lash noise that took out. Night and day difference. I've been watching my head temperature and it hasn't shown any change due to the painted valve cover either. Still right next to the spark plug I'm getting a 200F to 220F degree reading, depending on how hard I'd just ran it and how quickly I shut it down and take the temp reading. Tooling around the woods at walking speeds (3-5 mph,) when I check the head temperature it runs in the 180 to 195 range. Thanks for the help and the link |

Re: Honda valve cover
I believe the valve cover you want is from a Honda GX670. I searched v twin valve covers and this has a listing for a universal cover seal
http://www.ereplacementparts.com/hon...938_53333.html If you go backwards on this listing of the gasket -- it will lead you to info on the page bottom that shows other engines it fits. I believe this valve cover will fit the 460 with no problems. https://www.jackssmallengines.com/ja...da/12391ze2020 |

I'll be off to the honda small engine dealer this morning to see what this cover will cost me now that I know what it fits. In the photo I notice it doesn't have a pcv valve but I have a one way check valve I can use. In fact I have two, one is the aluminum one like you've posted about using and the other one which is a tad larger in ID size is from a power brake system that I've used on another engine with out problems where I felt the extra ID size was a benefit. I've bought a lot of parts over the last few years from Jackssmallengines.com. Good guy to deal with for sure. he'll go out of his way to help you if you have any questions too and if I can't get this cover locally I'll be giving them a call. I might anyway just to keep the local guy honest, if you get my drift :-) I'm sure enjoying my VC460 engine. I can truck on down to the woods at a comfortable pace then when I get to the woods travel along at a snails pace looking for mushrooms without a problem. Very user friendly engine this 460 is Vegas Carts definitely have their s--t together Hope you're having a great day EDIT: I found the part numbers for the Cover, filler cap and filler cap gasket. Cover #12314-zj1-840 Filler Cap #15611-m80-000 Filler Cap Gasket #15625-zj1-840 Edit once more: Never mind. This cover would put the filler plug at the bottom of the cover so it would be useless for this application. I felt down deep in my heart that this was going to be too easy and sure enough it was. Oh well I guess I'm back to using the funnel to put oil in my engine. Dang it anyway. I'm glad I went out and check the orientation of the valve cover before I spent the 40 bucks all this was going to cost me MYBAD |
