Default Vegas Carts 11 Degree Advance Unit

I purchased a VC advance timing unit when they first came out. It didn't come with any instructions on how to set it up. I tried to set it on my racing mower but had alignment issues. It was out further then the flywheel and interfered with fan. I talked with Aaron about the problem -- he said to grind the magneto mounts down about .250 Well I see it more of a machining job then a grinder job. Now that I have my ride tore down for some brake work I will be doing a little milling work on my engine. My mill is large enough to mount the engine side ways so I can cut the mount perfectly.

My Grizzly 'toy' mill/lathe leaves a lot to be desired. the Lathe will spin 16 inch diameter. I'm wouldn't make a pimple on a Machinist AZZ but I do use it from time to time and its well paid for itself so I'm happy with it. Just not a quality product from the get go. In some cases better than none but thats about all I can say about it

I enjoy reading about your projects and have learned a lot from doing that.

A couple days ago my heavy azz muffler broke off so I'm in the process of mounting a new muffler. I purchased a flow through for a Allis Chalmers and I have to say it sounds might good. Throaty at speed but pretty quiet at walking speeds, of which I travel a lot of while in the woods foraging for Mushrooms.

anyways my wife just said turn that thing off, Computer, because we have a dinner date so I'm out of here for now.

Anyways I'll post the changes I'm making in a day or so concerning my carb adjustment.

Peace

Today I milled the magneto mounts down .250 so the advance unit was closer to the cylinder and put the ignition coil more to the center of the flywheel. No more interference with the fan. I'll red lock tite the mount to the block - also the ignition coil to the slide. When I start running it I will start at 4 degrees advanced.
